"Growing together to feed the needs of our children." - Mothers Unite Motto

Welcome to Mothers Unite

We are a registered non-profit organization that focuses on the well-being of children. We operate in Seawinds, Lavender Hill - an area predominantly characterized by unemployment, poverty, domestic violence, child abuse, HIV/AIDS, drug/alcohol and gang related crimes. There are very few facilities and services that cater for the children and families of this immediate area.

Why do we focus on children?

Children often become vulnerable in society when they do not receive the fundamental nurturing love, security and safety in their home environment. Many of our children in the Lavender Hill area do not receive simple things such as interest, attention and quality time from their very own parents. It is amazing how this very basic yet deeply precious time that parents afford their children can perpetuate an already vulnerable child and situation.

By engaging with our children in Mothers Unite and paying attention to their interests, actively listening, and showing them that we care by really hearing what they are saying, we give them the confidence, trust and sense of belonging they crave. In nurturing, encouraging and educating our children we build their confidence and self respect which in turn equips them with the tools and courage to speak out and stand up to someone that may be sexually abusing them, physically beating them or emotionally manipulating them.

As Mothers Unite we nurture the children, provide safety, security and support. We show them that their is an alternative - you don’t need to be beaten and shouted at - you can be treated with great dignity and respect, even as a child. We place emphasis on embracing the children holistically. We plan to engage with every child’s family and involve them as part of the solution so that the healing within families can start breaking the vicious cycle.
